Bite Size Fashion

fashionable flare for the pint-sized lady

Here is another great outfit for the summer days: a lightweight 3/4 sleeve sweater (which helps to keep me warm from the strong air conditioning) and a pair of lean, longer-styled shorts. Bright colored accessories are very “in” this season; so to add an overall pop of color to my outfit I used this bright orange purse which tied in nicely with my neutral colored kitten heel shoes. How do you play with color in your outfits?

It is official! Summer has made an appearance in the northeast with Memorial Day Weekend kicking off the warm weather. I love the summer; the days are longer and the weather is perfect for allowing me to play around with colorful lightweight articles of clothing creating fun summer ensembles.

I absolutely love the color of these shorts—lemon yellow—and the long lean silhouette of the leg looks terrific with a pair of wedge heels. To add to the summer style, I wore a lightweight loose fitting royal blue gingham check shirt and cuffed the sleeves complimenting the casual look of the shirt. To finish off the outfit, I wore a skinny silver belt and neutral colored wedge heels. What is your “go-to” outfit in the summer?

Rompers are a must have for the summer – they are truly perfect for nearly everyone. They are simple, casual, easy to wear, and the best part of it all—comfortable! You can rock-out a romper during the day with a pair of flip-flops and big sunglasses or you can wear one in the evening with a pair of high heels and a dressy clutch. Rompers also work really well for pint-sized people like myself – they typically have belts so you can synch the waste showing off your figure and you don’t have to worry about length at all.

For this outfit, I took the dressy approach since this romper was in a silk material. I wore these fun strappy neutral colored heels and grabbed a metallic bag—my final addition to the outfit was a simple murano glass necklace that I purchased on my honeymoon trip to Italy. This outfit looks great and required very little thought and accessorizing to pull it altogether.

Opposites attract in this cute ivory shift dress perfect for the warm weather. I love the simplicity of shift dresses and their casual elegance but typically they are too boxy looking. However when I found this dress I was ecstatic – it was the perfect length and didn’t have the all over boxy style to it and to top if all off it has pockets! I like the classic color combination of black and ivory so to add a pop of color to this outfit I wore a pretty printed silk scarf, which incorporated all of the colors—tying everything together.

I love this new trend of color blocking: pairing two totally different colors together to create an overall lovely outfit. It’s really a great way to brighten up your outfits for the warm weather season.

For this outfit, I took a pretty lace pink top and paired it with a pair of pastel blue capri pants.  On a side note, this length works really great for pint-sized folks like myself—you can wear these pants with flats or wedge heels and you don’t have to worry about the length at all. To tone down the overall look, I used neutral colored accessories – these white wedges are perfect for the summer! What do you think about color blocking- will you try it?

Being vertically challenged I love wearing high heels – I feel like certain outfits just look better with a few extra inches and this outfit is definitely one of them. Although this skirt is short, meaning I could pull off a cute ballet flat with it, I feel like the style is a little too dressy for a ballet flat. These unique styled heels match the sophistication of the skirt. I also love how this sheer blouse looked over this skirt – it gave it an allusion of being a dress.  All in all this makes for a cute outfit – perfect for an evening out with the hubby.

One of this season’s biggest trends in clothing are bright neon colors.  I couldn’t wait to find a few perfect pieces to add some spice to my spring wardrobe and this jacket was no exception. On a recent shopping trip with a friend to one of my favorite stores, she pointed out this adorable hot pink jacket. I was ecstatic to find this piece in my size and to top if off, it was on sale! I chose to wear this jacket with two pieces I already had in my wardrobe, a feminine polka dot blouse and a pair of skinny black jeans to create an entirely new outfit. Have you added any neon pieces of clothing to your wardrobe this season?

These polka dot pants are a perfect play on the retro style and a super cute addition to any wardrobe. Polka dots have a wonderful youthful feel, yet these pants are styled in a way that gives them a casual mature flair. I was a little afraid that the pants and their youthful pattern might make me look juvenile (due to my petite size) however I opted to pair them with a solid linen navy button down shirt and a neutral pair of high heels which adds a bit of sophistication to the outfit.  Are you on the polka-dot bandwagon?

This outfit combines quite a few of my favorite items: the color mint, metallics, and floral prints! I love these ballet flats—although I don’t get to wear them often because I struggle with what to pair with them.  However, I feel like these shoes work really well with this outfit—the mint colored pants act as a neutral and the metallic flowing shirt ties in nicely with the silver hardware on the shoes. These pants were just a bit long to wear with ballet flats so instead of having them shortened I decided to cuff them and iron the cuffs so they would stay put.  To finish off my outfit, I wore this pink clutch adding just the right amount of color to this lovely spring outfit!

Stripes galore!

I recently had the opportunity to spend a few days with my grandmother and one of our favorite past times is to go shopping! I have to admit that I am pretty lucky, my grandmother is one of a kind – she is active, sociable, and up on her fashion trends. We stopped by J. Crew and she gave her stamp of approval on this cute outfit for the spring. I already had these navy corduroys in my wardrobe but gave them an entirely new look with this silk red and navy striped shirt. To finish off the outfit, I wore this nautical style jacket (another grandmother-granddaughter purchase) with these cute large gold buttons. This jacket would also work great with a cute pair of jean shorts and espadrille sandals – I’m looking forward to the warm weather!
